one for F unit Friday . . .
Author: 3rdswitch

.   .   .   not a great shot as it is scanned off a backlit print, and, not exactly the F unit model expected under this title, but here, in summer '70, a trio of mixed Santa Fe F and FP45's are leading an eastbound pig train up Cajon Pass at Devore. I guess I have to eat crow. Not Seligman as I first thought. Confused with a very similar shot at Seligman. Can't be Super C as it passed in the morning and this is a late afternoon shot. My bad.

I've spent a lot of time at Seligman. This is not Seligman. It looks like Devore. Besides the terrain, the train is running left-handed, and west of Seligman was right-handed D-251.

Nevertheless, a great photo during a great time.

Could be a 2nd section of the 100 train, Super C? Don't recall when the train numbers were changed to origin-class-destination on the ATSF as in 891? So could be 2-891? Thanks for sharing!
