BAR 55
Author: refarkas

BAR 55 (EMD BL2) is in Bangor, Maine on June 15, 1977. The location of the bell on her short hood did nothing to increase her attractiveness.

Like a bulldog, they were so ugly they were cute. I saw them in action in 1982 on BAR. Unfortunately never in the lead, but they were running. BAR also had a couple of them stored at Northern Maine Jct. with tarps over them.

(chuckling!) Well...... I'd say you're half right. They sure are ugly (snicker). Nothing like a fat-jowled bulldog with a giant wart on its nose...

This is the first photo of a BAR BL2 with a crossing type bell that I have seen.  Most of the others had good old standard locomotive bells!

I'm with Lance but was thinhing a hog with a wart on its snout. I've seen them but I have never been a fan.
