SP's obs/biz car 'Oakland' .... which I have has #141 but not sure that's correct. What's the history of this car? When did it lose its SP scheme? What's is its current status?

Number is correct; it's owned by the Golden Gate Railroad Museum, soon to relocate to Schellville CA.

It was commonly used by the Chief Engineer, as Division Engineer and other positions I probably rode more miles in it than any other car.
IIRC the Amtrak paint scheme requirement (to let the car ride in an Amtrak schedued train) was relaxed and the car went back to "Sunset" silver with red lettering band before the car was sold.
