1. Canadian National SD40 5024 crossing the Rainy River from Canada into the United States at Ranier, MN on January 22, 1981.

2 and 3. Erie Mining Company F9A 4214, F9B 4223 and 3 more and a train at Taconite Harbor, MN on June 28, 1983.

4. Green Bay Western  RS-3 308 and Kewaunee, Green Bay Western RS-11 309 in Green Bay, WI on October 20, 1963.

5. Great Northern's Gopher northbound at 6:45 pm on the Kettle River Bridge at Sandstone, MN on August 3, 1963.

6. Duluth & Northeastern RR SW1000 35 and blowout caboose 07 crossing Hwy 33 north of Cloquet, MN on July 22, 1983.

More wonderful pictures from the past.  Gotta love the Rambler station wagon in photo 4.

Talk about intrepid rail fanning. You really had to be a hero to catch a train at Ranier, MN in the middle of January!
