SCL in OKC
Author: BNSF-6432

What seemed to be a common thing for the Frisco was Seaboard power into Oklahoma. I believe these were runthroughs from the east end of the Frisco system but don't know much about the practice. 47 years ago this month, Frank Tribbey caught one of these trains in Oklahoma City led by three SCL GP40's and one SLSF GE.

An eastbound SLSF freight with three foreigners to the area move through the SLSF yard in Oklahoma City, OK.

Frisco forwarded and received a lot of freight from the southeast via Birmingham, I beleive sometime in the mid-century they pursued a merger with the Central of Georgia but the ICC process allowed everyone else who'd lose to file their objections and as result it went nowhere.
Nevertheless both the CG, and the opponents to the merger SAL, ACL and Southern continued to forward a lot of traffic to the SLSF via Birmingham

circa 1971, Frisco had a run-thru listed in both directions via SCL-SLSF-QA&P-ATSF between Richmond VA and Richmond CA.

While living in Birmingham, AL in the early 1970s I remember seeing Frisco power on SCL train 217 which would run thru on Frisco QLA.  I think the eastbound SCL train was #216 but I can't remember the Frisco train symbol.  The SCL ran to/from Hamlet.  SCL 333/334 to/from Waycross also occasionally had Frisco power but I don't know what Frisco trains they came from.

Official Guide of May-June 1975 shows Kansas City-Jacksonville as SLSF FSE/SCL 333. The reverse trip was SCL 334/SLSF 134. Memphis-Hamlet run-throughs were SLSF 131/SCL 296/SCL 276 and SLSF CTB/SCL 216. The reverse trips were SCL 217/SLSF QLA and SCL 297/SLSF KCX. I believe SLSF QLA and CTB ran to/from ATSF at Avard, Okla.

I think the interchange point from SLSF to ATSF changed to Avard around 1973.
