Nostalgia & History > Letting Amtrak 6 By - Bahia, California, June 1980Date: 09/11/19 19:55 Letting Amtrak 6 By - Bahia, California, June 1980 Author: FiveChime Bahia (between Martinez and Fairfield), June 1980 on the old Cal P Route between Oakland and Sacramento.
Apparently 3739 with two other GP9s and a SD9 had to get out of #6's way by backing onto the westbound main. Not so great shooting on the shady side but none of this stuff is around anymore, except the 1971 Ford Bronco in the background in the first photo. Regards, Jim Evans Edited 3 time(s). Center Siding became the eastbound main in 1996? Could that be #6 then...

I grew up just to the left (well out by those hills) of photo #3 and we drove by Bahia a lot. I remember the SP engines (they were still there when I was in high school and even college), but I don’t remember the single level cars on the Zephyr or Starlight. My memories are of the Superliners, so I enjoy seeing these photos of what it looked like when I was little.
