Seeking photos of US Army H-12-44 engines in 1950s 60s paint
Author: zephyrus

Does anyone have some nice, clear photos showing the paint scheme and lettering style used on the Army's Fairbanks Morse H-12-44 locomotives from when they were delivered in 1953 to the late 1960s?

There are many photos showing them in the 1970s and 80s with the yellow frame stripes and the simplified US Army lettering, but I am hoping there are shots out there showing the original lettering, which I believe included the Transportation Corp logo.

Thank you!

Z

The PLA was donated a 65 tonner in Oakland.  When the crew was restoring it the original markings were found and copied.  Permission was requested from the Army to allow it to be repainted in its original scheme.  See hte link fo the results.:

I believe this is what you’re looking for. Even though it was taken on 7/17/77 at Hill AFB, it appears to show the complete original paint scheme and lettering. (Photo possibly by Rick Morgan)
