For awhile after the UP-MP merger, Missouri Pacific lettering was applied to locos old and new, which we all knew wouldn't last. Here's 3 newer MP SD50s backing their empty SATX coal train eastward past T55 in Fort Worth in 1987, probably stuffing it away for lack of crews since Ney Yard's run-through tracks were all filled. Think there's enough poles in the interlocking plant!! JG

I sure wish this practice had survived, like the SP and SSW. I liked the MP, and brief WP, lettering on otherwise UP painted locomotives. It would have added a nice distraction.
