Took this shot of wb nearing Speer with a pair of SD24B's ... date was 10/20/74. If you look very closely you can just see some of Cheyenne on the right horizon ...

ABSOLUTLY! Serious customer service with machines to get the job done. Wonderful photo!  I doubt PSR rules would let an engineer get the throttle opened up as it appears here.

Back when the UP was a great RR, hustling for business.  And, it must have been a thrill running those big engines!

Just for perspective, in 1974 Amtrak had already happened, Conrail was about to happen, Staggers was six years away, and everyone was wondering if privately-owned railroads had a future in America.
