With its atomizer and fuel set low with a light blower Texas & Pacific 2-10-4 # 612 rests in the siding in Pecos, Texas.  A auxiliary water car carrying 10,000 gallons additional water is coupled to its tender, mute testimony to the  desert portion of the railroad  and hard water.  Still sediments show up on the engines's boiler jacket.  Shortly it will resume its run to Big Spring, Tx for it's next service of lubrication, oil, and more water.
