SP Oscillating Red Light As Rear Marker
Author: FiveChime

There was mention of this subject associated with my SP Alco posting here the other day.
Attached is a segment of a Tom Hallendorf 8 mm movie I have posted in the past that shows how effective
these lights were even from a distance.
Early in the segment you will see the red light in operation on a black widow F unit but the most interesting
clip is of GP9 5747 - F7B - GP9 departing Bayshore as lite power move eastbound with the red oscillating light
being used as the rear marker. Quite visible from a distance.
Eastbound lite power moves out of Bayshore were common during this
time period.

Super cool!
May I ask was the purpose of the structures to the right of the track and engines from about 20 seconds from the end to the end of the film?
Thx! B

Wow! T&NO locos at Bayshore, and footage from the cab of the ML4000.

What was the music?

Looks like a sand house to me.

That is the old sand house. It was replaced by a simple sanding facility sometime between 1962-1970.

More specifically, it's Vyšehrad, the first of six "symphonic poems" in a composition called Má vlast ("My Fatherland") by Czech composer Bedrich Smetana.  The second poem in the piece, The Moldau, is the best known.
