Southern Pacific Roseville action, + other areas SD45X K Maffie
Author: KCRW287

Another Southern Pacific film, film wasn't in good shape but here goes. I think it opens at Roseville, and has a neat mid-train helper, and a couple of outbounds with good looking consists. The part where the KM's are at is unknown to me, someplace in a valley? Baldwin road switcher shows up, then a couple of more shots. Again sorry about the quality, I strongly suggest if you have stored film to get it digitized, I had to toss 4000' of railroad film account improper storage. Photographer unknown, my collection. Thats a nice video all things considered. Haven't seen many movies with the KM under power and moving. Thanks for sharing. Ben

Are the KM's at Dunsmuir and the final segment at Eugene?

Nice film. I don't remember seeing many photos of KM's in Dunsmuir, so seeing them on 8mm there was a surprise. Used to seeing photos of them in the Central Valley and Southern Cal.

Am I the only one that saw the "Elephant Ear" Sd-45?

After 1965, they were sent to the Valley and Bay Area. Failed their test as a mountain locomotive

SD45X in SP and factory colors. Plus an Alligator in Eugene. Really good film regardless of quality.

Thank you for the reminder of the digitizing. I've been finally getting ready to get it done, but it's kind of pricey still. But I saw an add for a newer service that is much cheaper.

The Dunsmuir segment with the two KM's is the lower yard engine facility long gone. The other Dunsmuir scene is near the Depot and roundhouse are with a west bound train rolling by the Depot. hanks for posting

Nice reminder of what once was, the unknown photographer knew the territory. Agree, Roseville, Dunsmuir then Eugene. The tricked out jeep in Eugene is very much how the whole PNW was in those days.
