Nostalgia & History > Cajon Pass, Overtake + Desert Wind, Early 1980sDate: 02/15/21 15:37 Cajon Pass, Overtake + Desert Wind, Early 1980s Author: FiveChime Interesting lighting on the first two. Rarely recall seeing older and newer Amtrak units together
like pictured here on the Desert Wind. Regards, Jim Evans Date: 02/15/21 17:45 Re: Cajon Pass, Overtake + Desert Wind, Early 1980s Author: Evan_Werkema F40PH's and SDP40F's did mix and mingle on a few western long distance trains in 1980-81. Can you read the road number on the rear of the SDP40F?

I can "blow up" the posted image too, but 1000 pixels is 1000 pixels and there's no "hidden resolution" to be revealed that way. The reason I'm curious is I'm not aware of any SDP40F's in the 500's that got heavier pass-through HEP cabling to enable them to trail an F40, but that third car is clearly an Amfleet.
