Santa Fe Seventies show . . .
Author: 3rdswitch

.   .   .   during a summer '72, hit and run visit to Santa Fe's Clovis, NM, facility, there were active antiques everywhere. Just east of Clovis, Santa Fe mains to KC and Chicago split ways with the main into Texas, which explains all the geeps, F's and CF 7's, which mostly went that way. Today, this yard is used mainly for block swapping on stack trains. It is also where the line down to Carlsbad takes off south.

Santa Fe 2615 to the left was one of fourteen new CF7's (2612-2625) that had just been turned out of Cleburne to act as mates to road slugs fashioned out of old F-unit boosters for use on the potash trains on the Carlsbad line.  The first photo in this old thread looks like it shows 2615 in the distance paired with its slug (which looks like just another B-unit until you notice the lack of exhaust stacks, portholes, and underbody tanks):

Did you by any chance get a closer view of 2615 and its slug?
