The red and grey with speed lettering in the 5300 series are the shockers. Found one of those in my stack of slides, took a while to realize what had happened. t4p. Date: 04/20/21 19:19 Re: Tunnel Motor Tuesday . . . Author: jgilmore That is fresh! Are those SP units behind it? :>)

A couple of things to add, MK never rebuilt or deliver any SP tunnel motors. Around the same time, they delivered rebuilt SD40M-2's, which were fully reworked and came in SD45, SD40, and SDP45 bodies. The unit in the photo was "resealed" at SP's (DRGW) Burnham shop, which handled some common engine work and the paint. East Saint Louis also did similar work for SP at the time, but the units were not considered rebuilt in the traditional sense. Thanks for sharing. |
