WAG Wednesday: a Lee Berglund reprise!
Author: santafe199

Here's another image from the Gibson Collection 'hall of fame', so to speak. It was first posted 7 years ago: ( https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?11,3342960,3342960#msg-3342960 ). So I'm betting there are quite a few of you who haven't seen it. If you enjoy this one, besure to check out my link! There a 3 more of Lee's B/W images of the 3751, along with the story of his relationship to the Kansas railfan family.

1. AT&SF 4-8-4 #3751 rolls past the depot in Kiowa, KS with the famous 1992 excursion entourage on September 13, 1992.
B/W print by Lee Berglund, from the Art Gibson collection.

Thanks for looking back!

Lance,

Would you by chance happen to have any of Lee's Santa Fe Fs or early geeps you could post?

Thanks for posting Lee's photo of ATSF 3751 at Kiowa , Lance and Art  .
Minutes before Lee snapped his shutter , my late friend W. F . ( Bill)  Hanson and I paced 3751 at 70mph for about 15 miles and watched 80 inch drivers spin and polished side rods flash in the low angle bright sunlight . What a glorius sight it was !!   To see it on video : Pentrex's 3751 Route of the Chiefs ( originally produced by Video Rails) . --Kelly

Not my shot, Randy. I certainly wish the actual photographer, the LATE LEE BERGLUND was still alive to receive your compliment. But I suspect if he were still around he would have been a long-time member of TO. Long before I ever joined (2011)...

And Kelly: That would have been AWESOME to see the 3751's flashing drive-rods @ 70 per!!! :^)

I believe that Lee's negatives are now in the White River collection. The
best way to see these engines is for you to buy the book done by
the Santa Fe Historical Soc.. Now I may have not  said  any of this is "right"?
