A return to Sterling,Oh in '95
Author: gcm

Dec 95
I hadn't been to Sterling in 18-20 years or so - there had been a few changes.
Looking east on the CSX ex-B&O line, a few CPL signals were still there.
On the far right in the open space was sadly where the double track EL (Erie) line was.
Ahead, just to the right after the curve began was RU Tower where the B&O crossed the EL.
In the late 70's all of that was still there.
The line to the left is the route to Lorain near Cleveland.

A seven engine consist with GP40-2 6135 leading is eastbound.
A GP30 and one B&O marked unit were included.
Once again the open area to the left (first image) was where the EL was located.
The Erie and B&O paralleled each other for a ways both east and west of the crossing.

Here are a few shots of Sterling in better days ----

The position light signals are gone about five years, but everything in your first pic is about the same.  The C&L sub northbound to Mallet Creek-Lester has had no trains in three years, except a strange movement last week.
