Nostalgia & History > Retsof NY 1979Date: 01/20/22 14:13 Retsof NY 1979 Author: briancdn Back in 1979 nobody had any idea that the salt hauling Gennesee & Wyoming would be come the largest shortline operator in North America. But on a hot July day the all Alco powered G&W was hauling salt, oblivious to the amazing future that would unfold.
I was there to see their RS-1's in particular, not many roads were still using them as mainline power. Brian N. Date: 01/20/22 14:15 Re: Retsof NY 1979 Author: briancdn And a few roster shots of G&W power at Retsof NY in 1979. They had an ex CW&I RS-1 on the property, probably for parts.
