UP GP7 122 built Oct. 1953 and retired April 1978, wrecked (bent frame), sold to Precision National Corporation, Mount Vernon, Illinois in November 1978, sold to ICG in November 1978, rebuilt to ICG GP11 8725 in November 1979. Photoed at Council Bluffs, IA Engine Terminal on June 13, 1970, Al Chione photo.
2. UP GP7 122 has same caption as Photo 1 except: Photoed with another GP7 eastbound at Sinclair, WY in Oct. 1972, Al Chione photo. 3. UP GP9B 188B built April 1954, retired and sold to Precision National Corporation in Sept. 1976, then sold to ICG, rebuilt to ICG GP10 8314 in Oct. 1977, at Omaha, NB in Jan. 1974, Al Chione photo. 4. Matthew Dittert Date: 05/13/22 07:48 Re: 4 of UP GP7s and 9s Author: kurtarmbruster Well remember these babies in Portland-Seattle passenger service during peak times in the mid-sixties, when all the E-units were tied up on Cities trains. Often ran in four-unit A-B-B-A sets. Interesting to see them retaining the Gyralites so late. Nice series!
