RC Lundgren Date: 05/18/22 12:29 Re: Lone Star ready to depart Author: Hou74-76 Another great record to jog my memory! But, I really think this photo captures the Lone Star on a slow roll out of Houston, in other words, it is departing.
I say this because the engine is too far west of the “stop here” concrete marker that we put down while I worked there. That marker was one of those parking lot barriers we see at the end of a parking space. SP would not allow a “stop here” sign so we stole a concrete barrier out of the depot parking lot and laid it on the ground perpendicular to the rails. Zoom in and you can see the marker. With the amount of steam shown in this photo it must have been a cold, still morning. I am glad you captured it. > Dec 77 > Early on a chilly morning the Lone Star is almost > ready to depart Houston. Date: 05/18/22 12:41 Re: Lone Star ready to depart Author: gcm Hou74-76 Wrote:

Too long ago to remember but your're right, the engine is past where it was usually stopped at. Gary Date: 05/18/22 15:53 Re: Lone Star ready to depart Author: krm152 The escaping steam really adds to the scene. Thanks for your excellent posting.
