7 of Union Pacific's Road Diesels

1. Union Pacific U30C 2846 built April 1973 retired May 1985 at Galesburg, IL on March 2, 1977, Larry Anglund photo.

2. Union Pacific U30C 2855 built April 1973 retired August 1986 at Galesburg, IL on May 2, 1978, Larry Anglund photo.

3. UP AC44CW 6645 built in June 1997 and a SP unit plus train, no location or date, Larry Anglund photo.

Photos #5, #6 and #7 show EMD SD9043MAC's, not the GE ES44's that now wear road numbers 8016 and 8185.

UP 5672  looks like Rochelle, Ill just west of the BNSF diamonds.

The 12 year service life on the U30C's does not speak well of their builder...

Loved the big Union Pacific U30C's with the silvered trucks. A solid, purposeful all-about-the-business look with those clean lines and that short, pug nose. With a touch of class from the silvered trucks. Used to see them at Kansas City on visits there from my home at the time in St. Louis, and it was always a treat. Thanks, Marty.

#6 appears to be a westbound at Rochelle, IL.
