Yet Another Lake Shore Limited

...this time, from the lens of Jim Odell, we have the first HEP-equipped Lake Shore Limited at Schenectady. Summer of 1979, if memory serves. I was living out west by then.

They did such a nice job converting those cars to HEP. They were a delight to ride in. Too bad Amtrak is always so narrow minded and short sighted. Those cars could have had much longer lives.

I think a HEP-converted, Pine series 10-6 sleeper is my favorite sleeping car ride ever.  I think I have maybe 25-30 trips, total. Whine all you might about Amtrak, they did indeed do some things right. IOn some cases, very right.
