or at least passes through...Taken by my friend, Dave Ribbe (ex D&RGW) He wrote on the slide, #108, has to be the train number...Nice overview of Helper, the depot is the red roofed building on the left...

Hey Steve,

Wow, what a great overview of the yard. It must be from the hillside to the east of the city water storage tank. I hope you don't mind if I steel your buddies location for a few shots of my own. I can't believe there's an angle of Helper yard that I have yet to exploit.

There is a rough road going up there, from the area of the long lead to the back yard at Spring Glen. It used to be more driveable, and a quiet, secluded spot with a great view from way above to spend a warm summer night in a sleeping bag in the back of your truck. I did just that way back in 1979, with my new wife, tee hee. Must have been pleasant, since this is now year 26! The last time I tried that road, however, last year, it was too washed out to navigate with anything I would drive, and not much reason to fix it I suppose. Great shot! - - - - - - JLH
