Kiamichi anyone?

The only time I ever chased the Kiamichi road job west out of Hugo, OK, was July '93. This is an exFrisco line east out of Madill, OK, just inside the border with TX. The line actually connects with the exFrisco main to TX a little south of Madill at a place called Lakeside. Here, the Kiamichi west road job is ready to depart Hugo for Madill.

A few miles west, at the station of SOPER, OK, the train is kicking up dust as it works upgrade after crossing a creek.

Great shots! Thanks for sharing.

Unfortunately the Kiamichi is being "RailGenericized" to the point where it's pretty tough to get a solid maroon consist anymore. Several units (from various sources) were transferred up from the DGNO/TNER soon after RailAmerica bought out StatesRail.
