Canadian Railroads > Way Freight To Squamish, August, 1983Date: 08/27/10 21:18 Way Freight To Squamish, August, 1983 Author: FiveChime Every Summer from 1983 to 1991 I spent a week on the British Columbia Railway, later BC Rail.
Here are a couple of shots of typical Alco power leading the southbound way freight just south of Lillooet, BC heading for Squamish. Jim Evans Photos, August, 1983 Date: 08/27/10 23:41 Re: Way Freight To Squamish, August, 1983 Author: CP9300 Nice stuff, keep them coming.

My guess is that the car contained groceries for the community of Seton Portage between Seton and Anderson Lakes. By truck, a long and dangerous drive, by train , a run along the lake. Next trip, the empty would be picked up by the wayfreight. Date: 08/28/10 23:12 Re: Way Freight To Squamish, August, 1983 Author: FiveChime Phil:
That is correct. This car was sent down from Pavilion where it had been set out to provide frozen food for a large track crew and their kitchen cars. From your various posted photos, I gather you have spent some time on this railroad also. Regards, Jim Evans |
