Canadian Railroads > Ontario Southland's three FP9As together

For the first time on Monday, January 12th, the Ontario Southland operated their three FP9As together on the Woodstock job. Unknown was how long they would remain together, so I made my way over on the following Friday. Arriving at their shop in Salford, one of the crew said to me, “Are you here to shoot the three amigos? We’ve had so many photographers this week you’d think Elvis had returned as a locomotive.”

The following photos cover the day, and yes, they sounded great!

1. Having run north from the shop in Salford to Ingersoll, the three Fs now head west to Putnam to service a fertilizer plant.

2. Returning to Ingersoll with covered hoppers; they’ll next lift auto racks at the CAMI Automotive (GM) plant.

3. Backing into CAMI.

4. Having lifted additional cars from their small yard in Ingersoll, the “Three Amigos” are eastbound as they climb a small grade out of Beachville.

5. Getting close to Woodstock now, the train slows in anticipation of crossing CN’s Dundas Subdivision at grade.

6. Switching out cars at CP’s Woodstock yard. When finished, the crew will retreat to the warmth of the CP station for lunch.

7. An OSR crewman inspects the second of three eastbounds on CP. Until the third one clears, they won’t have access to the mainline (Galt Sub) and their lift east of town at Coakley.

8. Backing down to the east end of Woodstock yard where they’ll access the Galt Sub.

9. Out on the main now, and with lengthening shadows, the three Fs will access their lift of auto racks just around the corner. By the time they head home it will be dark, and they’ll still have miles to go before they sleep.

There was Railink decals on the sides and nose of the blue and white units when they were owned by said company.

F units with a train worthy of a mainline freight in 2015 is a real nice catch!
