Via #2...The Canadian plus 1...
Author: Train611

Hello TO folk...

A damp cool day around Kamloops today, but a couple of nice photo ops.

1. Via #2 is running a little behind the schedule out of Kamloops.

2. A Great looking train with 16 coaches, and a clear signal.

3. Not far behind was RMR 8015 on the first run of the season heading to Jasper.

Thanks for looking,

611

The first one would make for a nice publicity postcard.

Nice shots, and so much green! None of that here in Montreal yet.

Looks like the last two cars have grey window bands indicating rebuilt VIA prestige cars

I thought only the Park cars were re-done for Prestige Class.

Eight Château-series sleepers have been (or will be) rebuilt for the Prestige service.  I have been told that initially one will be used on each consist starting in May. If there is sufficient demand, two sleepers can be operated on each train.

7 coaches, but only four Manor sleepers in this consist.   When I rode two winters ago, there was just one coach with the four Manor sleepers.   Much more coach traffic in spring/summer, but not a corresponding increase in sleeper passengers?

Nice photos, both trains look great!  I'm hoping we can still pull off our summer vacation plans to spend some time driving through that part of Canada.

I believe it is only the two coaches in front of the first Skyline dome car.  The five cars between the first and second dome are all Manor sleeping cars, followed by the sleeper class Skyline dome and dining car.  Then three Manor sleepers and one Chateau sleeper and the Park car at the rear.

I saw this train shortly after it arrived at Toronto Union Saturday and I can confirm what Slumbercoach wrote above. It arrived at 13:15, just three and three-quarter hours late, which is the best since service east of Winnipeg was restored.  The previous arrival, Tuesday, was close to ten hours late.  The Chateau sleeper ahead of the Park car was one of the rebuilt Prestige ones, but I couldn’t tell if it was in service or not.
