April 24, 2005  no "meet & greet" this trip on the Lillooet sub. All the way Williams Lake to Lillooet the BC Rail way. A few grab shots along the way..

01 Mile 211.7 was known as "Fill" used to be a wooden trestle bridge and then filled in with dirt.
02 Mile 206 "Fifty One Creek" a few miles north of Clinton BC
03 Mile 206 on the bridge

04 mile 206 rear view
05 mile 189, two miles into the descent of Kelly Lake Hill, the grade starts at mile 191, gently working into 2.2 percent grade at mile 189. It is at this point that air and dynamic brakes are adjusted for the long descent and the train ought to "feel good" brake and control wise.
06 along the way on the hill

Love your 'engineer perspective' posts of track locations very familiar to me but not from this vantage point obviously . . just curious  . . how long did the taxi ride take going back to 'Bill's Puddle'?

There are some really beautiful shots in this bunch.  But, I am also struck about how dangerous that railroad could be from slides and I don't see slide detection fences.

There was quite an effort later to put slide detectors and falling rock fences in various areas. Also there is or was track patrols ahead of each train. Crews have to be vigilant watching the track ahead.   Doug

Thanks for posting your pictures and videos.  I enjoy them and could kick myself in the butt because I didn't do much of that.  Appreciate your efforts in posting your "on this day" series.

What a view your office has! 99.9% of us pay to go on vacation to see scenery such as that yet it seems you understand how lucky you are ot work in such a great location.

Thanks for posting. These are great yet I still believe my favorite was the series of photos you had comparing the trackside photographer's images with your from-the-cab photos.

Are you referring to #10 Downing??  Think it was at or near Gramsons (flag stop) at mile 109 between Birken and Creekside. #10 was never shown in the timetable but did show in the brochure on the Budd Car, one of those "highlights" along the way.  Doug
