Television and radio are reporting two passing trains sideswipped each other on the North Toronto Sub around 5:45 this morning in the area of Howland.  No details of which trains were involved.

Went there this afternoon and a CP employee gave me the same train numbers.  He told me 118 was crossing over to the south track at Howland when 235 ran the signals and clipped the tail end of 118.  Clean-up was well under way when I got there, but I still managed to get a few pictures of 235's power.

Cheers,
Dwayne

Well repairs will be an excuse to wash the engine!

Or more likely add the locomotive to the list of stored ,not needed
motive power. Suspect somebody's head will roll over this incident.

I have noticed on previous pictures of Canadian Railway locomotives that a white cross on a green background symbol appear on the front of their locomotives. What is the purpose of that symbol and what is it's meaning. Thank you.

I think you meant to say "thankfully nobody was seriously injured"

My thoughts as well.  Screw the equipment when people's lives and safety are at stake...

This story made the national news last night.  They interviewed some of the local residents who were "concerned" that it could have been another Lac Megantic.  No mention of the crew of the ditched train.  No mention of the impact on the railway.  Just an "implied" possibility that it could have been more spectacular...
