I didn't know about the fence at Georgetown.  I take it that it ends at the platform?  I have to get up to the GEXR this year; rumours are rampant that CN is taking the Guelph Sub. back when the lease expires.

Georgetown now has a big shiny 6ft high fence right up to the platform.
Kinda sad but not unexpected in todays enviroment.

I believe GEXR's lease for the Guelph Sub. expires next year and it's expected that CN is going to take it back.  Same goes for Southern Ontario Railway.

The lease does expire and GEXR (G&W) may not reapply forcing CN to take it back.

The first photo of the eastbound SP unit had 84 cars on his train.

Pretyy healthy transfer run to Mac Yd. I thought CN didn't want a lot of branch stuff?

" I thought CN didn't want a lot of branch stuff? "

The Canadian legislation that allowed the creation of shortlines dictates that when a shortline operator fails, or in this case decides not to extend its lease, the operation of the line reverts to the original railway.  I did not say CN wants the line back.  They will be forced to take it back unless GEXR renews the lease or a new shortline operator can be found.

Anticipating your next question, most shortline operators do not want to get involved with a rail line that carries passenger or commuter trains.  Maintaining track to passenger train speeds is considered too expensive or onerous.

I thought Via or Metrolinks were buying or had bought the Guelph sub. Therefor maintaining passenger train track would not be G & E 's problem.
We saw three separate G & E crews at work on our day out all with healthy traffic amounts. I don't see G & E giving that up to another shortline as the freight business is definitely there.
I guess time will tell. GSW likes to play games, look at the Huron Central where they threatened to shut down without 30 mil for track work!!!
