Two NS-led trains on a rainy afternoon
Author: Mberry

Last Sunday was a rainy day in Montreal (for a change), but with two trains with solid NS power coming up the Rouses Point Sub from the U.S., I figured I'd go out and shoot them anyways, in Montreal West.

1-First up was pair of Dash9's (NS 9174 & NS 8933) leading a longer than usual CN 529 through the curve at Turcot West. This train had been interchanged to CN from CP at Rouses Point, New York.

2-After about a two hour wait, CN 323 is seen returning from St. Albans, Vermont with a longer train than usual (94 cars) after the crew layed over in St. Albans overnight. Power is a pair of NS units (NS 8071 & NS 9079), a not uncommon occurrence on this train. The conductor (a friend of mine) waves as the train passes.

That S-curve in photo one certainly makes for an interesting photo.

It's not long for this world. The switch on Track 4 shows what the new alignment will be when the Turcot reconstruction work advances.
