MLW Monday M-Lines on the East End
Author: kgmontreal

Climbing the grade through Racey on their way from Lennoxville to Birchton, QC four M-Lines thunder eastward toward Maine and Saint John, NB with a hot train that includes intermodal. Led by M-630 4558 the quartet is a mixture of M-630 and M-636 units. Photo taken in the spring of 1979.

The train sneaking around those curves makes this even better.

Really fine. Sorry I was never able to shoot that line. I did make it to Brownsville Jct one year, but only saw RS18's.

It was a great chase that day. But when the slides came back from Kodak my heart sank. Something went wrong in the developing and the images were all magenta. Kodachrome normally has a magenta cast but this was beyond a tint. It was overwhelming. For some reason I kept the slides rather than throwing them into the "round file". Little did I know that decades later technology would allow me to scan the slides and, using Lightroom, restore the colour.

When I think of all the slightly over and underexposed slides that I threw away..............

Brilliant location, composition (when telegraph poles work!), and train. Nice save, too.
