Question about CN Sand trains.
Author: railfaneric

Hi. I've Been wondering about Sand trains on CN. I know a symbol for one sand train is U778. Where does U778 go? How often does CN run these Sand Trains? These are on the Leithton Sub.

Don't know about that one specifically, but they do deliver one pretty regularly to the KCS in Jackson, MS. It becomes the OJAAL to Alliance, TX, where Fort Worth & Western forwards it to Texas Pacifico in west Texas.

U778 is a Sand Train from various Wisconsin mines to KCS at Jackson, MS. You would need to hear the rest of the Train Symbol to know which mine it originated at.
