Fire Damage on the BC Rail
Author: jc76

Any reports of the fire damage near Williams Lake region? I had heard 350 foot high Deep Creek trestle was being water bombed last week. How about the industries.... This fire storm is wreaking havoc, last I had heard all jobs on the BC Rail south of the CN mainline to Prince Rupert had been abolished, almost two weeks now.

not much reporting of what is lost or damaged. there was a tidbit that I saw that there was some "concern about the railway trestle near Soda Creek". that would be deep creek and from what I can see reported that fire jumped the Fraser River at Rudy Johnson bridge which is below the south switch at Mackin siding. Considering some of these fires have been advancing at over a mile an hour it would not take too long to be in the area of Deep Creek which is actually Hawks Creek on the map. I have not had contact with anybody in the area. Doug

From what I have been able to gather, officials are too busy finding places for evacuees and making sure their needs are met, and with actually fighting the fires.
There have been a few bits of drone video of a couple of small communities that were almost decimated. I also saw a short video clip of the log/construction yard of Pioneer Log Homes in the Williams Lake area. There was quite a bit of damage there. Pioneer Log Homes are the folks that do the "Timber Kings" tv show on HGTV in Canada. I don't know what network it is on (if any) in the US.

One expert described these fires in one word "violent". They are trying to contain and suppress the fires, weather, winds and dry conditions are extreme. Main goal is preservation of life and property. Doug
