Canadian Railroads > CP Rail #Lead at Abbey, Saskatchewan.Date: 02/13/18 08:49 CP Rail #Lead at Abbey, Saskatchewan. Author: ACL3042 These two slides were taken at Abbey, Saskatchewan. These were Fuji slides that have been scanned.
The #Lead was the symbol on a local that ran from Swift Current to Leader, Saskatchewan. This local ran three times a week. They went up the branch one day. They laid over at Leader then came back to Swift Current the following day. They ran up the branch on Monday-Wednesday-Friday. They came back down on Tuesday-Thursday-Sat. This was during the wheat harvest in 2005. The center unit was a HLCX unit. They are spotting empty covered hoppers on this west bound trip. They got some LPG at one location near Leader. When this shot was taken, vans had been removed from the main line trains. However the locals used the vans. I will post other CP shots in the coming days. Hope that you enjoy looking at these images from days gone by. Gary Date: 02/14/18 00:02 Re: CP Rail #Lead at Abbey, Saskatchewan. Author: robj When I got there it was 10 mph and still a caboose before the shortline took over. They would play golf in the AM before the return trip. Leader is a nice little town. The chase road was like something out of Africa. So many roads around there they would just put up a sign and dump a bunch of gravel. Good place for a rental car.
A friend got to ride caboose one day. Too much fun at that pace. Bob Jordan |
