Overhead View at the Quarry
Author: cn6218

Continuing with another contemporary scene from Halifax, here is 120 on July 9 at Bedford Quarry, 12.7 miles (according to the marker beside the switch) from the end of the Bedford Sub at the VIA station in Halifax.  Behind the GEVO leading the train are two SD75Is, making for a rather rare all-DC consist.  This is the "old" quarry, which currently supports a cement transload and propane facility.  The "new" Quarry, near the curve in background, and on the other side of the track, is where the asphalt tanks are located.  It is still an active quarry, although it's been a few years since any rock has moved out of there by rail.

"Green Railroad." The trees and plants are taking over! Much of this was double track at one time if I recall correctly. Thanks for sharing.
