ALP45 dual modes in Montreal
Author: twropr

After New Jersey Transit announced orders of extremely expensive ALP-45A dual mode locomotives (over $10 million a piece), some on the passenger board asked why NJT had not offered to buy the unused ALP-45s that had been used in Montreal commuter service.
Can someone confirm the status of the Montreal dual modes - last I heard they were all in service?
Thanks!
Andy

Most of them aare still in service, however the frequency of EXO trains have been reduced due to you know what!

This all assumes EXO's units have transformers that can handle 25 cycle catenary.

I do think a few MR-90 MU's ought to be modified with PTC and 25 cycle transformers for NJT Princeton Dinky service, though only the center high-level doors could be used, and then there would be a gapping problem with the platform at Princeton Jct. .
