Another Canadian in Scranton, PA
Author: cn6218

Besides the Delaware-Lackawanna, the other big attraction in Scranton is the US Park Services' Steamtown.  Its collection of steam engines includes many Canadian examples which were saved from being scrapped when F. Nelson Blount established Steamtown in Vermont in the early 1960s.  According to their website, https://www.nps.gov/stea/planyourvisit/operatinglocomotives.htm , no steam locomotives are operating currently currently, but during my 2002 visit, former CP 2317 and CLC-built CN 3254 were the only operating examples.  To the Park Services' credit they didn't try to disguise these as American lcomotives at the time, although they are currently working to restore Boston & Maine Pacific 3713 to operating condition.

On August 17 of that year, 3254 was putting on a good show climbing out of Scranton, heading for the Nay Aug Tunnel and Moscow, PA.  3254 wasn't part of the original Steamtown collection, running on the Gettysburg instead.
