CN 4803 on Display in Toronto
Author: eastpenn23

On my first visit to Toronto, I walked around the outside of the Toronto Railway Museum. They have a nice display and it's easily accessible. Here is GP7 #4803 on display facing the city

It's striking but it is a CN locomotive not CP

Do they have a mesh sheet over the grabiron ladder? That's a really effective way to preserve the visual character and keep people from climbing it.

Another piece of interesting equipment on display in Toronto.  Anyone want to make a guess?

One of the original GO Transit cars from before the Bombardier Bi-Level cars you see now.

Just a little correction to the above line.  This engine as built operated long hood forward so the engine is pointing away from the city, face Lake Ontario.  I'm glad you enjoyed your visit and were able to do some taste-testing at the Steam Whistle Brewery.

Over the years I have walked around the park and wondered about what look like live steam tracks that wander around the area.  But I have never seen any signs of use.  But they have been there for many years.  One of the pictures in this thread shows them.  Are they ever used?

No, there were some kids climbing on the engine

I'm not from Toronto so I don't know when they operate.  I did catch the train on one occasion when I went to visit Derek Boles at the Don station. (gentleman with the Tilley hat and grey shorts in the background) Derek gave tours of Toronto Union Station and authored the book, "Toronto's Railway Heritage". Sadly, Derek passed away last year at the age of 71.
