Canadian Railroads > Winter 1984 on the Canadian PacificDate: 11/26/22 11:28 Winter 1984 on the Canadian Pacific Author: BrianA Here are three winter photos from 1984 on CP Rail.
1. CP XW 5823 passing XW CN 5242 at North Bend, BC 1-14-84. Before directional running we were getting a taste of what would come as CN was detouring over CP because of bridge problems near Boston Bar. My notes say it was a one day detour from Mission to Kamloops and on top of all that the CTC went out on the CP. CP coal loads with 5823/5836/5624 is on the move west as the CN 5242 waits it's turn later in the day. 2. CP 5800/5552/5738/5921 had just arrived at Revelstoke, BC off an eastbound freight 2-4-84 and are seen here backing towards the engine facility. A friend and I had ridden the Canadian to Revelstoke arriving at 10:30 AM and had until 6:07 PM when the westbound Canadian would take us back to Vancouver, BC. 3. While at Revelstoke on 2-4-84 westbound coal load 803 (X5812) pulled out at 3:10PM with CP caboose 434214 bringing up the rear as it departed. Both trains pictured in the first photo are shown.
