CPKC new colours
Author: Train611

Hello to all.
A couple of days ago, thanks from a friend, I heard about these two units heading up an eastbound 100 Series train.
Image 1 sees the train about 2 miles west of Kamloops BC.
Image 2 sees the train about 6 miles east of Kamloops, after a crew change.
Image 3 shows the back to back units -  leader from CP, 2nd unit from KCS.
interesting colours!

Thanks for looking.
Stay well.

Wonder how they would repaint each railroad's business car fleets.

The units had arrived separately at Coquitlam, a day apart. Marshalling them back-to-back for the eastbound movement was pre-planned. It emphaslzes the changes in the livery.

I'm not impressed. A locomotive is a long, linear structure. Paiting them in a way that disruipts that linearity in a major way (vertical/blocky color changes) usually looks pants.

Presumably you don't like the current CN design either, as it also features an abrupt change in colour (red to black) separated by a diagonal line in a third colour (white in CN's case).

Personally, I like both the CN and new CPKC design for just that reason. The pre-CPKC look of CP is an unimaginative, endless slab of red. Couldn't be more boring. Easy to paint for modellers, though.

I like te new scheme. For those that don't wait awhile and they will look like most CP units-grubby as H !

Correct.

Pre-CPKC red is a bit uninteresting... but slightly better than CPKC in my eyes.

Several KCS business cars have been repainted in the standard CP Tuscan red and black, but lettered KCS. BSB

I suppose it is to show who's in charge there.

Pre-planning for the next round of mergers so that only 2/3rds of the loco will need black paint.

Hideous paint scheme. Just hideous.

Something I hadn't noticed until these shots (nice shots, by the way) is the nod to the heritage of the units. I like the small "CP" or "KCS" painted on the cab, under the number. Nice touch.
