A few weeks ago we began issuing a free month of membership to recipients of the video of the day feature. In the past we sponsored various photography contests and I decided it would be fairer to distribute free memberships throughout the year instead of all at once. With this latest commitment we will be issuing more than 700 months of complimentary memberships every year for the image and video of the day features.

To be chosen for the video of the day we are looking for quality video. Unless there is something spectacular, we will not be choosing handheld videos. We are looking for interesting clips. Scenes of typical freight trains running by on flat straight track is not what we are looking for. We are looking for unique pieces. Video covered with captions advertising a Youtube page or other distracting text will not be highly ranked. If we do not find an interesting video for a particular day we will go into the archives and choose a previously posted video. If your previous video is chosen then you will receive a free month.

Video has become a big component of Trainorders.com. In looking at our statistics, almost everyone is now viewing video. Even if train video is not your thing, occasionally something will get your attention. By providing incentive I am betting that we will see more quality video being shared.
