European Railroad Discussion > Steam on the Underground Aug 2Date: 08/04/14 10:42 Steam on the Underground Aug 2 Author: GettingShort Thanks to a heads up from one of the contributors here I had the chance to ride the 150th anniversary of the Hammersmith and City Line run of 0-4-4T No1 Monday.
Picture 1 is No.1 pulling into Northfields tube station. Picture 2 interior of one of he coaches. Picture 3 passing through the Baker St. station. Date: 08/04/14 10:47 Re: Steam on the Underground Aug 2 Author: GettingShort Picture 4 at the end of the first segment of the tour and as far as I traveled, Moorgate.
Picture 5 The train was pulled out of Moorgate for the next segment by electric locomotive No.12. This ride came on the final day of my trip, my flight back to LAX was scheduled from Heathrow in a few hours so one segment was all I had time for. It was a good reminder of just how interesting and active the heritage scene is in the UK. Date: 08/04/14 12:46 Re: Steam on the Underground Aug 2 Author: DRGW5502 Brilliant!!

However both were in service until the early 1960s - the electric loco used to pull the trains I rode to school every day, while the steam loco was kept in with some other Met railway relics to help with construction trains for the four tracking project north of Harrow. What great pictures! Date: 08/06/14 02:35 Re: Steam on the Underground Aug 2 Author: 86235 joemagruder Wrote:
