If you are in London and looking for a good spot to hang out and watch trains pass by at speed - South Hampstead is a great spot for this. The mainline out of Euston Station passes through this station, so you get all the Virgin Trains and the London Midland services on the West Coast mainline. You also get all the freight traffic going from the West Coast mainline to East Anglia and the Chunnel. On separate tracks, you get the London Overground services (3rd rail) between Euston and Watford, and you get the Chiltern Railways mainline from Marylebone Station running ion top of it all.
