Recommendations In Dublin, Galway and Vicinities?

I have a short trip planned to Dublin and Galway for work next month (May 2017) but will have some time to explore. I am a fan of steam, traction and the unusual.  I will be travelling by train between Dublin and Galway.
I would appreciate any suggestions/recommendations from the group.

If you want to see any freight you will need to do that in and around Dublin, there are a number of relatvely recent threads on this board about Ireland which I've posted, mainly about freight.
