A happy driver
Author: 86235

For the next three weeks the Severn Tunnel under the River Severn, on the mainline between England and Wales is closed for electrification work. Diversions are in place along the line which follows the west bank of the Severn to Gloucester. I went out today to get a few photos, in particular of the 4O70 intermodal train between Cardiff Wentloog and Southampton Maritime Terminal. As it approached the driver started a fusillade of horn blasts finishing with a thumbs up and a great big grin. He made my morning.

Thanks, the signal is just an ordinary automatic three aspect running signal with an LED head. Rather characterless.
