Slovakia Part 6, train to Budapest
Author: gobbl3gook

I first arrived in Slovakia planning to go south through Hungary.

After a couple days in Bratislava I instead took a train back to Vienna, over Semmering Pass, with plans to bicycle/train leapfrog through Austria, Slovakia, Croatia, Bosnia and Montenegro.

Afyer a couple days of lovely bicycling in Austra I checked the weather forecast for Ukraine, and it was warm and sunny!  (It had been cold and windy from mid-September through mid-October.

So I hopped back on an eastbound train, back over Semmering Pass to Vienna, back to Bratislava for another night, then east to Budapest and points east.

(One advantage of traveling alone is the ease with which one can change plans).

1) ticket hall in Bratislava

2) waiting for the eastbound train.

3) nice little cabins

4) track work.  It is always encouraging to see improvements.  I'm not sure if the was a new double track construction, or just rehabilitation of an existing track.

5) more track work.

6) good bicycle facilities.

BTW, has anyone else submitted a work ticket to Todd and Co. via the "Contact us" menu choice?  The sideways photo have been happening for *years*. Seems that in an age of great computational power this shouldn't be an issue.  Sure I can manually change them, but that's the sort of job I specifically expect a computer to excell at!

I'll put in another request.  Maybe if everyone else also puts one in they'll get it fixed...

7) It was a lovely day -- about 75 or 80f, calm.

8) Nice stations along the way.

9) Clean train, nice corridors

Bonus pics -- hostel living.  Brickyard Hostel Bratislava.

I enjoy the hostel vibe.  This hostel was just 2 blocks from the train station. I dont remember it particularly well, but I stayed there four nights, met a few other travelers, enjoyed the bustle of other lightweight travelers coming and going.

10, 11) clean, empty room (on arrival, anyway).

12) This might be the hostel building, or maybe the building next door.

It is not on our end. Our software does not rotate photos. It is not smart enought to rotate photos. If it is did we could just as easily fix it.  Your phone does that.
