Action at London Marylebone
Author: erielackawanna

On the morning of April 5, 2023, I spent a bit of time at London's Marylebone station to try and get some shots of the Class 68s pulling passenger trains. Without real knowledge of the area, I set up at the first overpass north of the station. Along with the two trains pulled by Class 68s, I also shot some Class 165 and 168 DMUs.

Image one is of Chiltern Railways 1R90 from Marylebone to Birmingham loading at the station.

Image two is Chiltern Railways 1Y16 from Oxford.

Image three is of the same train, but with a side view.

Image five is of the DVTs on inbound and outbound Chiltern trains.

Image six of Chiltern Railways 1H17 from Stourbridge Junction

So, how DO Londoners pronounce Marylebone? "Mary-le-bone," or "Maryl-bone," or what? Thanks for the views--that's an odd-looking duck of a motor, but I imagine some folks like it.

Thanks for the effort and sharing these photos with us Charles.  Sure is a long way from Southern California.  One week until the coronation of King Charles III.

Thanks for sharing the photos.  Please correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Marylebone the only London terminal station that's not electrified, all trains being diesel hauled or DMUs?

Great photos.  And to think this station was at one time slated for possible closure. Chris uk.
