One night on the Alliance Division
Author: displacedneb

Early 1980s. There was a woman and her daughter at Torrington, Wyoming who used to flash trains day or night. One evening an obliging Alliance crew stopped and picked the ladies up for a ride to Guernsey, Wy.

On arrival at Guernsey the inbound crew loaded the ladies on the second unit of an eastbound coal load. Everything was fine until the outbound engineer found the passengers while doing his consist walkthrough.

A good engineer and a good guy. But he was very much a rules stickler. So the yardmaster was called and out came the train master to remove the ladies. They were told to find their own way home.

The inbound crew got pulled out of service and were off for quite a while.

I’m sure Mr. By The Book endeared himself to others over his career. We’ve all known his type.

Unfortunately, those guys are everywhere. Their lives are usually miserable, and want to make everyone else's as well.

I'm sure as word got around on this one he caught it from others whenever he messed up.  It is impossible to be perfect.  Expecting others to be perfect causes you to be held to the same standards as others.

And he probably wonders why nobody will do any favors for him too.
