Return of CSX Q508
Author: perf4strivection

During the downturn of 2008-2009 CSX train Q508 (Garrett - Toledo) slop freight was eliminated. The train handled local scrap cars, Defiance GM plant cars, etc. This traffic was added to Q324. The westbound counterpart was Q509 (Toledo - Garrett) and this train was not eliminated. Several months ago a daily Q508 train was reinstated on the Garrett Subdivision.

Q508-25 was making up its train this morning with an EMD leader - another plus is this train often runs with older power. Train is shown at EE SDI near St. Joe, Indiana with SD40-2 8095 leading C40-8 7611 and 11 cars at 0842. I hope more of the symbols that disappeared return - welcome back Q508 (especially nice when running at proper photographic sunny times like today).

Great to hear that CSX added back a train start somewhere. Now, if we could just get a train or two back around here...

ITs it just me, or is that trailing locomotive an CW44AC? I ask because I know of no C40-8's with GE's gen II steerable trucks.

It's nice to see the Q508 is back (and the Q509). Here's a shot of it making the left-hand turn at Deshler (OH) to Toledo (OH).

@Bath_wildcat - Yes it is an AC44-9, CSX 565.
